Taking accountability for the health of a whole region: Experiences from Accountable Care Organizations in Germany for the future role of hospitals (audio)

Alexander Pimperl is Vice Chairman of the Board at OptiMedis AG, a health science-based management and investment company. Prior to taking on his current role Alexander was a 2015-16 Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, funded by the Commonwealth Fund. In his fellowship he has been working at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to his Harkness fellowship, Alexander was head of the Controlling and Health Data Analytics Department at OptiMedis AG. He has built up the Analytics Department at OptiMedis and developed a business-intelligence infrastructure combining data from various sources with the goal to optimize population health management. They have used this technology among others in their project Gesundes Kinzigtal. Alexander holds a PhD in health care management and health economics from the Institute for Healthcare Management and Health Economics within the University for Health Sciences, Medical Informatics and Technology in Austria. At Prague International Health Summit 2018, Alexander will share his experiences from Accountable Care Organizations taking responsibility for the health of a whole region.
