About summit
In cooperation with The Governance Institute, our American partner, Health Reform.cz organized the IV. International Health Summit on 6-8 April 2008 in Prague, Pyramida Hotel.
215 delegates representing 20 predominantly European Countries attended. The IV Summit focused on Health Care Purchasing. Having reflected the participation, the speakers and the quality of their presentations, as well as delegates' feedback, it has been the most successful Summit so far.
Once again, the objective of the Conference was to provide the delegates with the opportunity to meet distinguished international speakers and offer them topical and specific information on various countries with developed health care systems and facilitate exchange of best practice on international scale.
Traditionally, a seminar on the situation in selected CEE countries was part of the Conference. This time, it focused on accessibility of information regarding pricing and quality of healthcare services, update on regulations governing contracts between payers and providers, and the position of the patient.
The conference saw a number of experts in the field of drafting, negotiating and administration of contractual obligations representing stakeholders concerned, i.e. payers and providers. George Halvorson, Kaiser Permanente CEO, representing the biggest private nonprofit integrated managed-care system worldwide, was one of the most anticipated Conference Keynote Speakers, thus extending the ranks of distinguished speakers such as Sir Alan Langlands, former NHS CEO and Professor John R. Kimberly, Wharton Business School, USA, who spoke on IHS in the past.
The conference was traditionally chaired by Jim Rice, Governance Institute vice-president and a Cambridge, UK, International Health Leadership Program lecturer.
