Gerhard Poelzl is a Professor of Cardiology at the Medical University Innsbruck. He earned his medical degree from Karl-Franzens University in Graz, Austria, and completed a fellowship in heart failure at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Currently, he leads the Interdisciplinary Heart Failure Centre Tirol and the heart transplant programme at the Medical University Innsbruck. Additionally, he is the founder and director of the telemedicine-based heart failure disease management programme, HerzMobil Tirol, which has recently expanded to include the treatment of coronary heart disease, hypertension, and preoperative optimization for high-risk patients prior to heart surgery.
