Sara A. Spilseth is an accomplished internal medicine physician who has held various leadership positions and played a pivotal role in improving the quality of care provided to patients. As the System Medical Director of HealthPartners Access Center, she plays a critical role in directing the care of the organization's patients across the system. She ensures that every patient receives the right care at the right time and in the right place. In this role, she also focuses on hospital throughput, identifying alternatives to admission and decreasing length of stay. Dr. Spilseth also serves as the Associate Medical Director of Health Plan Quality, where she oversees the quality of care provided to the 1.8 million members including involvement in medical policy creation, utilization review, quality case review, provider monitoring, credentialing, population health quality metrics and accreditation of the health plan. Dr. Spilseth's expertise and leadership skills have also led her to serve as the Chief of Staff at Regions Hospital. Beyond her formal leadership roles, Dr. Spilseth is an influential participant in numerous committees across the organization and remains an active clinician, practicing as a hospitalist at Regions Hospital, a level-one trauma center and tertiary care hospital in St. Paul Minnesota.
